Light Shading Ratings

Screen fabrics allow varying degrees of light into your room depending on the pattern weave. Some fabrics are very sheer and allow more light in, while other fabrics have a tighter weave and diffuse more light. The Light Shading Rating guide above (insert image provided) indicates the privacy level or “sheerness” of the fabrics. Note that some dark colours may appear more sheer than light colours, even when both colours are in the same collection and have the same light shading rating. Screen fabric shades do not provide nighttime privacy.

Note: When ordering window shades with the Cassette System, please note that some shades may require the large cassette instead of the small cassette for the shade to function properly. For example:

• Large shades (wider than 72" or longer than 72") will require the larger cassette.
• For aesthetic consistency, if one or more shades in a multiple shade order requires the large cassette, all shades within the same room should be requested with the large cassette.

Choosing the right fabric for your window will ensure that your light and privacy concerns will be satisfied. We have grouped the fabrics for the Remembrance roller shades according to light and privacy control features.

Care and Maintenance

Hunter Douglas Window Shades are as easy to care for as they are to operate. The fabrics are anti-static and naturally repel dust. An occasional dusting with a feather duster or non-abrasive material duster is all that is needed for routine cleaning of all window shades. Fabric shades may also be vacuumed with a soft bristle attachment. Shades made of fiberglass and PVC may be wiped with a soft, damp sponge and lukewarm water.
